Resisting deliciousness

June 30, 2009

I’ve currently placed myself on a 4 day rule of no spending any money whatsoever on food or drinks. Nothing allowed until Friday (which I have off, yay for 4th of July weekend!). This may sound incredibly easy. For me, not so much. Each morning I crave an iced coffee. Each afternoon, it’s frozen yogurt. I’m in the habit of making my own lunch, so that’s not a problem- it’s the snacking that’s the tough part! It doesn’t help that I’m surrounded my all sorts of deliciousness when I take my break. The worst culprit of all: BerryLine. This place is frozen yogurt on crack. I’m officially addicted, and even right now, I have visions of strawberries and oreos swirling around in my head. It seems like I’m not alone in my BerryLine love- one ambitious college student even did a week long diet of only their frozen yogurt. Hmm.. best diet ever?6.30.09 berryline

Did I mention only 25 calories a serving?

Must. Resist.

Waga-what?

June 29, 2009

Last night, M and I tried ‘Wagamama’: a noodle bar that we have heard rave reviews from. I was a bit nervous as the boyfriend hates all things noodle, but to my surprise- it was amazing! He got the Chili Chicken Ramen, which has a spicy broth base that tasted similar to tortilla soup. With all the cold, rainy weather we’ve been having, this was a great place to warm up. We’ll definitely be going again, I’m dying to try the Udon noodles, which the waitress said was a customer favorite.

To the Cape!

June 26, 2009

I’m originally from a small town on Cape Cod, Mass. In the summer, the boyfriend (let’s just call him.. M) and I spend most of our weekends there.  And why not? It’s great to get away from the city.  There’s nothing like feeling the ocean breeze, driving just a few minutes to the beach, and eating as much fresh seafood as we can stuff ourselves with. It’s completely worth the two hour (or sometimes more) drive.

Boston is great, but there are a lot of ties here that seem to hold us down on weekends. Work, rent, roommates, noisy city-ness. It’s inescapable when we spend our weekends here.  Friday ends and Monday begins, yet it all stays the same.

Once we cross over the Sagamore, it all seems to melt away.  We can plan our days as freely as we want, and the stresses of city life are pushed away until Sunday night.  Days consist of iced coffee, sun, sand, puppies (my parents have amazingly cute dogs), and baseball. Does anyone else have a ‘happy place’, like this? A place where you can relax and be free of all of life’s little worries? I’d recommend it to everyone, a place where one can go to recharge and remember what life is all about. It’s the simple things.

“Sun is shining, the weather is sweet. Make you wanna move your dancing feet.”

June 25, 2009

So, it took until 4:30.. but the sun came out! I’m foregoing the gym to sit on my porch and soak in the sunshine. It’s beautiful out.

Here’s a shot of my view:

Mmmm. Sun.

Since it was pretty depressing out before this, I spent my break in Urban Outfitters (nothing like a little shopping to chase away the cloudy-day blues). I browsed their ‘bargain basement’, and found a woven, deep purple wallet. I wanted this wallet a month ago, but for $35, it didn’t seem necessary. The price today? $9.99! Sold!

Hope everyone else got a chance to see some sunshine today. xoxo.

What’s that in the sky?

June 25, 2009

Just checked my weather widget- and what do I see?

SUN! Boston is heading towards a record of having the worst June weather ever.  Sunny weather is much needed and way past due.  Plan for lunch break tomorrow: bask in the sunshine. Ditching the raincoat and umbrella (which I’ve had to bring to work amost every day this month), and putting on the flip flops. Can’t wait!

Here we go..

June 24, 2009

Alright! My first post. To be honest, I have no idea what I’m doing. But my hopes are that this blog serves as a small window into my life- from silly babbling thoughts, to big (and small) adventures, to my love of all things coffee and coffeeshops. And bags. And puppies.

You get the idea.  Enjoy! :)
